Seasonal scrapbooking with a twist!

Seasonal scrapbooking with a twist!

I couldn’t be more excited about the possibilities of using our Magic Windows Slide & Reveal die set to make incredible scrapbook layouts!! Press the ‘play’ button below to see one scene dissolve into another – it really is magical…

I absolutely love the fact that Magic Windows have a hidden image or photograph that is only revealed when the tab slides! It’s such a unique feature and I’ve not seen scrapbook pages that are interactive like this before.

Magic Windows make it possible to include two scenes from a cherished memory, to help tell a story. Of course you can display more than one photo on a scrapbook layout, but there’s something special about seeing one photograph dissolve into another within the same window! It could be that the photographs are taken moments apart, such as at a birthday party – before and after the candles are blown out, or perhaps something fun like jumping into a swimming pool and the photograph to be revealed is the big splash that follows!

The mechanism doesn’t have much depth when the Magic Window is constructed, which means it will fit within scrapbook albums too.

I made this scrapbook page to celebrate the few snow days we had here in the UK. My childhood memories include winters with heavy snow every year. My sisters and I would take it in turns to use the toboggan that our Granddad built. It’s rare that we get more than a light dusting of snow in recent winters, and that’s why I made this layout. I wanted to remember the family fun we had playing in the freshly fallen snow – that I knew would have melted by the following morning.

To keep with a circles theme, I used the Circle Topper and Trimmer/Cropping Circle dies to cut circles from glitter card, mirri card and vellum. The delicate white snowflakes have been stamped using the motif stamps from the Cold Days, Warm Hearts – Christmas Wonderland stamp set. I do love the look of stitching on paper, and deliberately wonky machine-stitching can look really effective. I embellished the stamped snowflakes and circular-stitched lines with small self-adhesive pearls.

I can’t wait to see what other scrapbookers create with this incredible craft tool.

I hope you like the layout. Please stop by again for more crafting inspiration!
