Slot & Spin Valentine’s Day Card!

Slot & Spin Valentine’s Day Card!

If you’ve throughly enjoyed making Christmas cards using our Slot & Spin Crystal Christmas Frames die set, then you’ll be pleased to hear that it’s not just for festive crafting. The frames are suitable for making cards for any occasion – and you can of course mix ‘n’ match the frames from previous Slot & Spin sets!

Die-cutting the frames is simple to do and they slot together so easily! This Valentine’s Day card looks so professional. It really does look like it would be expensive to buy, and the best thing is, it was quick to make!

We’ve put together a fantastic FREE Valentine’s Day download (thanks to Art Director Katie!) so that you can make your own Valentine’s cards. Within the download, you’ll find a huge selection of greetings, the two heart templates needed for this card, plus the script pattern and other bonus designs.

You can also watch how to make this gorgeous card on our You Tube channel here.

The products you’ll need to make this card are:

Slot & Spin Crystal Christmas Frames Die Set

Nature’s Textures Stamp and Stencil Set – Hexagon (on sale!)

Folksy Charm 8×8-inch paper pack (Clearance item on sale!)

Our FREE Valentine’s Day download/printables.

To get started, you’ll need to make an A5 square card blank from white card. 15x15cm or 6x6in would also work. Place the large heart (from the download) centrally over the front of the card, and draw around it using a pencil.

Die-cut the aperture in the centre of the heart. The heart confetti pattern is created using just one of the stamps from our Nature’s Textures – Hexagon stamp and stencil set. I can’t believe how such a tiny stamp from this set created such a stunning pattern!

I used a random selection of inks from my stash and I wouldn’t worry about whether they’re dye, archival or pigment inks here, as you’re just creating a pattern. If you don’t have many ink colours, then technique would still look great with black ink, maybe a red or pink and one other colour.

Here’s a close up of the little heart button stamp and the pretty pattern you can create with it. Don’t worry about layering the hearts over each other – it adds to the confetti look!

The smallest spinning panel was die-cut from thick white card (300gsm). I added a light shading of turquoise ink to the circular panel and then used the linen stencil from the Nature’s Textures stamp and stencil set – Hexagon, to add a background pattern.

To make the folded 3D heart, You’ll need to use the smallest heart template to cut out 6 hearts. I couldn’t resist using the red floral patterned paper from our Folksy Charm paper pack. It’s a clearance item and only £4! – So grab a pack before they all go!

I added shading and a bit of colour to the backs of the hearts with ink. Two hearts were coloured with peach ink and four hearts were coloured with turquoise ink.

I then stamped all of the hearts with the hexagon script stamp from our Nature’s Textures stamp and stencil – Hexagon set

I printed the script design from our free Valentine’s Day download onto white card, and the nested two of the Slot & Spin Crystal Christmas Frames die set to cut the large frame (shown at the top).

Each of the hearts are folded in half and attached to the small, circular panel. I applied tacky PVA to the folded edges and took care to leave space along the bottom (for the panel to be able to slot into place later).

Once dry, I turned the panel over and attached the remaining folded hearts to the other side.

The small, circular panel slots easily inside the script frame. You can then slot it to you card and watch the 3D heart spin!

I used the curved banner greeting from the FREE Valentine’s Day downloads but there are plenty of other greetings to choose from. 🙂

The folded hearts look great on decorative tags too.

I used the Folksy Charm patterned paper to wrap a small Valentine’s gift and added a 3D heart tag – I love it when a plan comes together!

I hope you like these Valentine’s makes. Please stop by again for more inspiration!

Happy Crafting!

Angela
