Irene’s sparkling winter wishes card!
Hi everyone!
Well it’s that time of the year again, and like most of you I’ve been busy making my Christmas cards. I absolutely adore the Beautiful Moments – Cold Days, Warm Hearts stamp sets. They are beautiful to stamp with.
As a crafter, I am always looking for further ways to utilise the stamps in my collection, which is why I thought I would share this card with you. Here I have used the Winter Days stamp collection. I have used the main image as a background, but also used the accent stamps to extend the image.
I have taken an alcohol-proof grey ink pad and a white 8×8 inch card blank, and stamped the design in full in the bottom left-hand corner of the card. I have repeated in the top right-hand corner but left some of the image out. In the stamp set there is a bare branch stamp and a tiny twig stamp. I have used both of these stamps to extend the tree in the bottom left image, and also to create a frame around the top of the card and in the bottom right-hand corner. I had to add a few of the adorable little Christmas trees also!
As I have used alcohol markers on this card, I have placed a couple of sheets of copier paper inside of the card to stop the ink bleeding through to the bottom layer. This is all hidden anyway once I glue my insert into the card.
Once I had finished colouring with my alcohol markers, I inked around the edges with a blending ink pad in my favourite colour.
Of course I couldn’t leave it there! Not when I can use glitter. So I added glitter to all the branches of the trees to give it that winter wonderland feel. On the images, I added sparkle overlay to the snow and the pond only.
Finally to finish… of course I had to use more glitter! This time in the use of ribbon. I couldn’t choose between silver or turquoise so I glued a strip of each to the card with red liner tape.
I took a sentiment also from the stamp sets. After stamping, I inked around in the matching blending ink, die-cut a circle and layered onto some silver card. I threaded a small length of baker’s twine through a punched hole and glued onto the card at the top only. This is so the sentiment can hang loose and give movement on the card. To finish, I added the two bows with 3D glue gel to ensure the bows stuck to the glitter ribbon.
I have really enjoyed making this card and hope you like it too. Hope to see you soon!
Love and best wishes
Irene xx
